I had a rare opportunity to visit several private former rice plantations in the South. The beautiful and massive old Live
Oak trees, draped with swinging Spanish moss that graced every peaceful plantation had born witness to unspeakable
horror in the past. Slave cabins still stood and a haunting, frightening aura permeated the land.
I felt it deeply throughout the time I spent there.
This body of work was photographed and developed on site with the 1850’s wet plate collodion process
and an 8” x 10” Kodak Masterview camera.
