STILL LIGHT

Photography has been described as the process of drawing with light. The soft, low light I look for in pre-dawn hours

is slow, quiet, and still. A deeply personal time alone with nature’s waking songs, offering solitude, attention.

Water is a shapeshifting symbol that reappears often in my work. Alone at the waters edge, I go to a place that feels

closest to my animal self – a place of both peace and attention, mystery and wonder. Spiritual in the way I can be so.

Closer to the more than human world. The Sea, the birthplace of all life. Being in this meditative state is integral to

the way I work and the work that I make.
